Gabapentin was prescribed to me by a back surgeon, and he told me to find my best dosage. In one night I took so much that I lost the ability to speak English and in the meantime, my left foot became numb. My life has never been the same. And I felt so guilty after that because for years my dog had been prescribed gabapentin. And he always looked so miserable. And about the seizures: I used to be a linguist, with an absolute quickness and facility with language. Since that episode, I often go blank or have a slowness which I never had.

We need to stop the war on cronic pain patients! Giving us psych meds for pain is inhumane. This stuff did nothing for my pain but really messed with my mental health while taking it. It took 3 different people talking to me about it before i realized it. My coworkers and boss had talked about me and were worried something was wrong. My boss ended up calling me in the office to talk and ask if i was unhappy at work or having problems at home. Wife at the time and best friend did the same. I was given ketamine after back surgery. That made me hallucinate and have crazy dreams. Stop this insanity. We dont take opiates to get high. We take them for the pain relief.

One of my doctors told me that gabapentin was the safest medication to drink for pain for fibromyalgia and that it was not addictive, never did she tell me none of this. I have a lot of side effects that I did not know they were. Since I let them know that I still had a lot of pain they told me I can take three or two a day or as needed so I did and that’s when I noticed all side effects, I was wondering what the heck was going on but now I know🤔

Gabapentin is very addictive! My daughter’s doctor put her on it and when she told me how much her doctor had her on I flipped out! She became so addicted. She also died at home and my grandson had to call 911 to save her life. Thankfully they revived her. I began to talk to her about getting off of it. She asked her doctor for help. She is off it, but she is struggling in every way. 😢

All that doctors and politicians have done is to make it as difficult as possible for those of us that have benefited from the opioids . If the opioid prescribed isn’t strong enough for better pain relief then the patient becomes a drug addict in the eyes of Ignorant doctors . I learned that even with the what I consider the minimum amount of opioids the constipation at times is enough to make anyone want to stop taking them . As it gets worse the higher the dosage . I have a primary doctor that has probably never had to deal with chronic pain . Tell me that I don’t need morphine and they won’t prescribe it . Legally I would never do but would like to say to the doctor or doctors . Let me take a hot iron to the skin of your entire body and then tell you that you can’t have any pain relief from opioids . Those classes to listen to some form of elevator music and reprogram the brain to not listen to the pain receptors that are doing exactly what they’re supposed to do . Is fine for those that were prescribed opiates that weren’t really needed in the first place . My nerve ending pain before the small amount of opioids was like the finale of a huge fireworks display . My first heart attack being the widow maker felt like I had lightening bolts shooting through my body and out my finger tips . I drove myself to the hospital and the nurses all thought that I was on some drugs .Every nerve in my body was continually firing at different times in different places . Between the concoction of medication that I take for heart attacks , Crohn’s disease , neuropathy , fibromyalgia , skin ulcers including in the nasal cavity , arthritis , tendinitis , herniated discs , sciatica , brain fog , depression and a host of other conditions . Living through utero being born at camp le jeune with the water contamination . Along with all of the unknown reasons why I hurt , was and is exhausting with no ambition or desire to be a productive part of society . I learn about the poisoned water at an age of 37 . Before fmla I was terminated from so many jobs I can’t even count . After fmla I was terminated or harassed to the point of termination . As corporate America has the best lawyers to deal with any chronic absenteeism . Doctors that when told about the unheard of water contamination from the late eighties until now . Still wouldn’t believe it because of the lying cover up . I am now almost 64 and the pain is at its highest . Even with those opioids parts of my body become sooo painful for no apparent reason and stop whenever it wants before moving to another part of my body . I could not and cannot make any kinds of plans for 1 day into the future much less long term plans . Not being able to have any type of long term relationship or children . I want to say to all of you ignorant blatantly stupid doctors … Go F#ck Yourself ….!

Opioids are NOT addictive to everyone and that is the huge misconception among doctors like this guy. The so called opioid crisis in this country was really MADE by doctors and pain clinics in many states that let them get away with being outright overprescribing for decades, these states clamped down when things went to far and now the sentiment about the medical community is that these opioids are all addictive and all people get addicted. Now, after having severe back issues for over 15 years, it is impossible to get opioid pain med when I get flare ups. I've had a flare up or ACUTE pain. Recent pain management visit was pretty bad. The doctor never asked me what worked for me in the last 15 years, and I never asked for any pain meds. He ordered a new MRI Since my last one was 2022 and that's fine but he wants me on Lyrica which is bad too. I do not need to even have the slightest chance of the many side effects that Lyrica can have when I know that I can function and work just fine on a controlled dose of pain meds. At 64 I still have to work as a very physical industrial mechanic and could really use some help from opioid pain meds to get through the acute phase then I go back to taking Turmeric, Bromelain and wearing Tiger Balm patch and Tens 7000. But the doctor said 3 times in my visit that they will not give me any heavy analgesics or opioid pain meds unless the try all other things first. Well doctor, I have no time to wait around for the dose of Lyrica to be slowly stepped up to the max benefit and even then it can take another 3 weeks if it works. All these pain doctors do is practice "trend medicine" based on a large previous group of people that abused the drugs, not me, an individual that is different for everyone else. My other doctor passed away 2 years ago and when my last pain pill ran out, I did not have withdrawals and did not doctor shop to get more pain meds. My new family doc would not give me pain meds, just occasional steroids for week or two. I was OK with that until April when my back was injured again. BTW, my pain last month drove my BP to 220 and put me in the hospital where they freely gave me pain meds because based on my on file MRI, there was no question that I was in need of pain meds, but when I got out of the hospital, back to not getting any meds. Makes no sense at all, none. That's why I generally do not like doctors of today.

I was a complete mess!! I was on that dosage for 2 years without abusing them... and I said I've had enough... I weaned myself off AMA ... it was the hardest thing I've ever done!! I've been medication free for about 5 months now. I still have chronic pain but at least I can think straight now and my body doesn't depend on medication to function on a daily basis... I then realized that I was starting menopause and some of the perceived side effects were because of that, but they were not as severe. I was also under a huge amount of stress, so I can't say it was entirely the med., but I have never taken it since.
